Kidney function

Pediatric eGFR (bedside Schwartz 2009)

Historical bedside pediatric creatinine estimate from the CKiD cohort.

Intended population: Nonpregnant children aged 1–16 years with CKD who are not receiving dialysis; standardized creatinine and stable kidney function.

  • Developed in children with CKD, not healthy screening or adults. Current CKiD U25 equations may be preferred in contemporary practice. An indexed estimate; do not infer CKD from a single result.
  • Not for pregnancy or patients receiving dialysis. Pregnancy changes renal physiology, and dialysis alters creatinine independently of native kidney clearance; use an appropriate renal assessment.
