Kidney function

Creatinine clearance (Cockcroft–Gault)

Historical adult estimate of creatinine clearance using an explicitly selected weight.

Intended population: Nonpregnant adults not receiving dialysis, with steady-state serum creatinine; original derivation ages 18–92 years.

  • Actual, ideal or adjusted weight must be selected according to the relevant protocol; the tool does not choose. Not indexed to 1.73 m², not interchangeable with eGFR, and not a medication-dose recommendation. Extreme body composition and ages outside the original cohort reduce confidence.
  • Not for pregnancy or patients receiving dialysis. Pregnancy changes renal physiology, and dialysis alters creatinine independently of native kidney clearance; use an appropriate renal assessment.
